Bucolic

(From the Greek boukolos = cowheard) The literary genre of shepherd poetry goes back to Sicilian-Greek shepherd songs and idealistically describes the country life, especially the activities of a shepherd. The most famous example from Latin literature is Virgil's Eclogues. Their content of everyday country life is presented in a deliberately targeted tension with their sublime measure of epic, the hexameter.
