Majuscule

(From Lat. maius = larger) in contrast to minuscules, majuscules are scripts in which only two horizontal lines are necessary to enclose their letters above and below, so you have no ascenders or descenders. From the High Middle Ages onward, majuscule writings served only for decoration.
